African Goose

Scientific name: Anser cygnoides domesticus

Country / Place of origin: China

History: The African Goose is a large bird which is descended from the wild Swan Goose (Anser cygnoides), from China. The African Goose has been a popular domesticated breed in the West since the 1800's. The African Goose was admitted to the American Poultry Association's Standard of Perfection in 1874.
