Haflinger Horses
I have owned and/or bred Haflingers for 26 years.  They are a great family horse.  They are generally calm, friendly, easy going  nature breed of horse.  The breed is confident and brave by nature, with each particular horse ranging slightly different degree on basic traits.  They tend to be pushy and dominant in a kind way.  In your face kind of horses.  Smart, sensitive and willing if asked.....dull and  defiant if forced.  Not the kind of horse to respond well to abuse or force but great if trained by natural or patient normal methods.  Always willing to do what is asked if understands why and what they are being asked.   Have not wanted anything else since owning my 1st 26 years ago.  Long lived and very healthy, very easy keepers (still own my 1st) and beautiful to look at.  Difficult to fit for saddles and  harnesses due to their wide backs.

Thanks for the insightful comments on their temperaments - "Smart, sensitive and willing if asked...dull and defiant if forced." This sounds like a measure of their high intelligence to me!
