Color varieties: These fish are also available in longfin and albino versions. However, these variations are rare.

Aquarium specifications: A medium-sized shoal of these fish requires a tank with a capacity of 20 to 30 gallons. There is adequate plantation in the tank. The aquarium is decorated with rocks and driftwood. Lighting is dim as these fish are sensitive to light. To provide further cover from the light, sufficient hiding places are constructed. A smooth sand or gravel substrate will keep their sensitive barbels safe from damage. The water is changed regularly. Salt should not be added. These fish are bottom dwellers.

Behavior

Temperament:  Peppered Corys are peaceful by nature. Being a community fish that immensely enjoys company, six or more fish are housed together. Guppies, Mollies, Platies, Swordtails, Tetras, Barbs, Danios, Discus, Angelfish, Rasboras, Gouramis, Rainbowfish, Plecos and other peaceful scavengers make good tank mates for these Corys.
