Species group: Asian Parakeets
Other name(s): Greater Rose-ringed Parakeet
Appearance
Details: The primary color of the Alexandrine Parakeet is bright green. The large red beak gives this bird the appearance of a large head on a slender body. The tail of this species is long and tapering. The shorter tail feathers in the center of the tail are a blue-green color with yellow underneath. Males can be distinguished from females by the pink colored ring that is present around back of the neck region and a black striped throat. Female birds lack the black stripe and rose ring.|
